Ice Birdie

This image is really a thin layer of ice on a very slippery dirt field. Every time I visited the folder I saw a birds head. Not ice. So a bird it should be. Well, I think it is a bird :)  Today I also tested how to pick up patterns from the layer below. So, what I changed with the smudge tool is on a separate layer above and did not affect the parent layer. Something new learned today.  :)

My entry to the linkylist today is an image of a forest.

Next week is Christmas week and many will be engaged in celebrations.  Still I will run the meme as usual. If someone gets bored with celebrations you can still play :)

Frozen Meadow

I only did two things with Frozen meadow. Working in CS5 I used the filter Spatter and a little color and contrast adjustments. Then I made a white layer below the spatter image to use it to create the lighter areas at the sides. Used 25% delete to get the effect I wanted. Lighter but not frame. Brushing the color off and letting the white shine through.

If you have a software without layers you can get the same effect if you paint carefully with 10% white till you get what you like. Takes some trial and error but it works.

This is easy to do. You need a flower and a clear glas with water. Put the flower in the water and the glas in your freezer. But not for too long. The ice has to be clear for you to be able to take shots. You need good lighting. Maybe a flashlight as well.
