Abstract swirl

Just playing around a little in PS CS5 today. This is a plank from the boardwalk leading to a birding tower. It is a bit red by nature and water made the color rich. I have two layers, the original wood is shaping the frame. The top layer is the same but treated with High Pass filter. That made it grey in colors. I made a twirl on that layer too.  Layerstyle Multiply to get colors in the twirl.

To finish of  I connected the two images with Layerstyle Inner and Outer Glow on the top layer. Blending mode Dissolve!
I guess that is about it!  Btw, it is the same plank I used for my own entry today.

Sepia is the optional theme for this weeks challenge. For this image I used the free software PhotoScape. They have a nice way to make images look both old and worn out.

There will be no more optional themes for the foreseeable future. It seems that people don´t think they are optional .  And might be scared off .  If the number of  participants increases I might start it all over again. But for now you are welcome to post whatever art you create. And have fun doing that.

Combined and with the contour drawing at 25 % visibility

For this work I used ArcSoft Photostudio. It is a freeware I once got when I bought a printer. I made a Contour drawing and placed the layer above the original. Then put visibility to 25% to see the socc below it. And I received a colored drawing.

Now, I have been thinking of opening a meme for Bird Art

If any of you are interested in a BirdArt meme please tell me. I need at least 10 people to get started.

For this I used PS CS5 and filter  paint daubs, brush 2 and sharp16. Finished with blending:  overlay 

 Hm, I hope everyone knows that the BOKEH is what is unfocused in this image. :) When a dot becomes a "ball" that took me a long time to understand.

The Optional theme for next weeks DAM is: BIRDS.  If you like to see what I created this week you can look at Bullfinch and Waxwing for ideas.

And, remember, Abstract is always an optional theme. Or create whatever you like.  You can even do it straight in the camera.
